In the last 24 hours, the number of corona virus cases in India has 1584380 with about 49,000 new cases, while the death toll has risen to 35,000 with 779 more deaths.
India ranks third after the United States and Brazil in terms of the number of countries most affected by covid-19, while Maharashtra tops the list in terms of states. Tamil Nadu is second and Delhi, the national capital, is third. It is followed by Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
According to the Indian Ministry of Health, the recovery rate from Corona in the country is 64.50% and about 990,000 people have recovered so far. Although the recovery rate has improved, the rapid spread of the corona virus in rural areas of the country has raised concerns among state governments and the Center. In the western state of Maharashtra, about 400,000 people have been affected and more than 14,000 have died. In Delhi, more than 132,000 people have been affected and 4,000 people have died.
According to reports, the speed of cases in India is higher than all other countries except the United States. However, the death toll in Brazil and the United States is higher than in India.
To increase the testing capacity in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently announced that his government was expanding testing facilities so that all states could follow the ‘test, track and treat’ policy. According to Prime Minister Modi, there are currently 1300 testing laboratories in India where more than 500,000 tests are being done daily. Prime Minister Modi had said that India was “in a better position than other countries” because of “taking the right decision at the right time”.
Despite an average of 50,000 new cases coming to light every day in India and warnings from experts, the government insists that community transmission has not yet begun in the country. Experts say that given the rapid rise of new cases in India, it could soon overtake Brazil.
