British airline British Airways has announced that it will start direct flights from London to Lahore from October 14.
According to the announcement of British Airways, four flights a week will start from Lahore from October 14. Issuance of tickets for flights from Lahore to London Heathrow has started.
The latest Boeing 787 and Boeing 788 aircraft will be used for the long journey from Lahore to London Heathrow.
British Airways already operates one daily flight from Islamabad, which was suspended due to the corona virus, but has recently resumed flights.
British Airways suspended its direct flights from Islamabad in 2008 following a suicide bombing at the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad.
The British High Commissioner said that he hoped that the flights of British Airways from Lahore would help in enhancing business and human links as well as in promoting tourism.
The economy fare between Lahore and London on both sides will start from 657, the fare from World Traveler Plus will start from 998 and the fare from Club World will start from 1806.
British Airways suspended its direct flights to Islamabad just days after the September 20, 2008, suicide bombing at the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad. In those days British Airways operated six flights a week to Islamabad and was the only other airline to operate direct flights besides PIA.
Following the general improvement in the security situation in Pakistan, British Airways announced the resumption of these flights in 2018 and resumed in June 2019.
This is the first time that British Airways has started direct flights from Lahore to London.
